It's the 10th birthday of Frank Cornelissen's cellar, and he's coming to London to celebrate. What better place to showcase his quite exceptional family of wines than Hibiscus Restaurant in Mayfair.
Frank chose Mount Etna for its rocks, altitude, remoteness, potential for mountaineering and wine. It's an edgy place; Frank's vines are under constant threat of being obliterated by lava. The wines are "intriguing, vibrantly mineral and detailed. They're profound, pure and intensely individual" says Isabelle Legeron, Master of Wine and Hibiscus' consultant. Each vintage has its own personality, whilst showing greater finesse and purity of fruit than the last. Even more surprising is that he achieves so much without any use of chemicals, additives, preservatives or processing, either in the vineyard or cellar. This is wine as great, pure, moving as it gets today.
2-star Michelin Chef Patron, Claude Bosi, is all about imaginative cooking and daring, delicious flavours. There is no combination better suited to Frank’s highly individual wines than Claude's playfully precise cuisine. Isabelle, the first female French Master of Wine, and Head Sommelier Romain Henry are massive Cornelissen fans. They have designed a Cornelissen extravaganza day to showcase his extraordinary wines, against a backdrop of totally unique, bespoke Bosi dishes.
Dinner will feature eight different wines, including two vintages of each of the Munjebels and the mythical Magma Rosso, Frank’ s top cuvée which best encapsulates the level of purity, complexity and beauty he aspires to achieve on Etna. Claude, Isabelle and of course Frank will accompany you in this tasting adventure. 7pm arrival time. The private dining room is also available for a party of up to 18. Tickets are £170 per person plus service charge, for what may prove to be the greatest winemaker dinner in London in 2011...
