Roagna, Langhe Rosso, 2003

This wine comes form nebbiolo vines that are under 20 years of age from Barolo and Barbaresco vineyards. The vine roots are still in the clay part of the soil but will eventually grow into the marl and in doing so will gain in complexity. It is at this point, once the root system has reached the marl strata, that the vines become classified as Barolo or Barbaresco. Langhe Rosso is therefore unclassified Barolo or Barbaresco if you like, which makes it a wine that is fantastic value for money. Fragrant, fresh, elegant, hint of balsamic, pale colour, ready now, lovely and appealing and fresh.
