Water and water wastage is a hot topic, particularly in the world of agriculture. Thousands of gallons are used every day to irrigate vineyards around the world. Sometimes this is done with drip irrigation and sometimes it's done with flood irrigation. The problem is that in hot dry locations around the world this can mean that precious water is being used to grow plants in places they wouldn't have grown naturally in the first place. There is another way, it's called 'dry farming' and some people, like the Laughtons at Jasper Hill, manage to grow vines in really hot, arid locations without any added water whatsoever...
